Professional Development for the provision of Assistive Technology (AT) refers to the knowledge and skills attained by individuals to:
- support an interest in lifelong learning
- fulfill a moral obligation to maintain and improve professional competence
- remain current by keeping abreast of new technologies and practice
- comply with continuing education requirements by regulatory organizations
- enhance career progression and opportunities to collaborate with RESNA
Topics
Professional development topics include education on the use of AT (devices and services) to facilitate the health and well-being of individuals with disabilities (IWD).
Topics are founded on the World Health Organization (WHO) International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework and include: medical procedures to optimize capacity, services to facilitate performance in Activities and Participation domains for Learning, Communication, Mobility, Daily Living; and the influence of Environmental Factors.
Audience
