A new material for contoured cushions was developed. The new material was tested using standard ASTM 3574. Contoured cushions made of this material were given to seven patients. Pressure maps were obtained at time of delivery and once every three months. Preliminary results indicate that the values of pressure obtained with this material fall within the recommended values to prevent formation of pressure ulcers. Graphs are presented illustrating the behavior of the foam as represented by pressure maps of three volunteers.
