Alternative Text Description of Graph 1: Wavelet Analysis of Blood Flow Oscillations
Graph depicts an example of wavelet analysis and proposed quantification method to characterize blood flow oscillations. There are four figures (a, b, c, and d) in this graph. Figure (a) shows sacral skin blood flow response to a rapid local heating shows a biphasic response. By implementing wavelet transforms of skin blood flow shown in figure (a), the time-frequency information of five characteristic frequencies can be quantified and shown in figure (b). By averaging wavelet coefficients, time-frequency information can be reduced to the spectrum shown in figure c. Figure (d) depicts that the average of wavelet coefficients within each characteristic frequency in a one-minute period reveals time-series information of each control mechanism during the biphasic blood flow response to local heating.
