RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America, announced today a “Do-It-Yourself” (DIY) Assistive Technology Design Competition focused on innovative designs for people with disabilities in developing countries. Organized by RESNA’s
International Special Interest Group (SIG), the competition will offer cash prizes to the top three designs, thanks to a generous donation from Whirlwind Wheelchair International.
The deadline is April 1, 2015.
RESNA’s International SIG is a forum for members and non-members who are interested and/or active in providing services or conducting research relative to assistive technology in developing countries and other resource limited environments. The DIY competition seeks to spur the development of innovative AT designs that can be easily replicated around the world, and help people with disabilities enjoy independent lives. The contest is open to anyone with a good idea and a passion for helping people with disabilities. Cash prizes are $300 for first place, $150 for second place, and $50 for third place.
