Bellevue City Councilmember John Stokes will help open an exhibit hall of technology solutions for people with disabilities on Friday, June 21 at 6:30pm at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. The exhibit hall, which is free and open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, will feature leading manufacturers and suppliers of assistive technologies, which includes power wheelchairs, communication devices, eyegaze technologies, computer applications, and home modification equipment. Local service providers, such as Disability Rights of Washington and research centers featuring the latest research on disability and technology will also be present.
The exhibit hall is offered by RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America, an international membership organization of professionals that create, develop and adapt assistive technologies for people with disabilities. RESNA is holding its annual conference at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. Approximately 450 professionals are expected for three days of workshop sessions, research platforms and poster sessions, a developer’s forum, student competitions, and more.
“Members of the public will be able to see not only the latest products, but a diverse range of assistive technologies,” said Alex Mihailidis, a research scientist and engineer at the University of Toronto and RESNA president. “We look forward to being in Bellevue for our annual conference, and having the opportunity to meet the community.”
“Advancing new and innovative technologies is at the heart of what we do in Bellevue. On behalf of our city, it is my pleasure to welcome RESNA to Bellevue. We are pleased they have chosen our city to showcase the latest technologies to assist individuals with disabilities,” said Bellevue City Councilmember John Stokes.
The exhibit hall is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday from 9:45 to 5pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, 900 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue, WA. For a full list of exhibitors, please visit www.resna.org.
