Developed based on requests from RESNA members, an upcoming webinar will be dedicated to the use of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and G-codes, including how to use them for reimbursement of wheelchair and seating services. The presenter is Barbara Crume, PT, ATP, C/NDT, a seasoned instructor with over 30 years of experience providing evaluations, fittings and training for clients of all ages and all diagnoses to obtain manual and power wheelchairs with custom seating. "Coding and Reimbursement for a Successful Seating Clinic" will be offered at 5pm ET on November 23,2015.
“At a RESNA conference, members of the Physical Therapists group started discussing coding, and it was concerning how many of us were confused about what codes to use,” said Catherine Sweeney-Thompson, PT and former chair of RESNA’s Physical Therapists Professional Specialty Group (PSG). “This webinar is an excellent opportunity to get some definitive answers, as well as discuss how to conduct a successful seating clinic. Many clinics have shut down due to problems with reimbursement, and there’s now a real concern about access to services.”
The webinar is a two-hour comprehensive course that will provide in-depth information on when and how to use CPT codes consistently, plus an overview on how to document the evaluation and treatment intervention to demonstrate the provision of skilled care and justify the need for assistive technology. Presentation and discussion of Functional Limitation Reporting G-codes and modifiers for Medicare patients will also be included. In addition the instructor will present payment policies, consolidated billing issues and strategies for success.
“I became more familiar with CPT coding out of dire need, when my billing office couldn’t figure out how to obtain reimbursement for our seating clinic,” said instructor Barbara Crume, who is with CarePartners Health Services in Asheville, NC. “That crisis was an eye opener to me, and made me realize that therapists need to know how to code properly. We also need be familiar with the Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) for PT and OT and know our regional Medicare and state Medicaid clinical coverage policies which can change from year to year.”
As an IACET authorized provider, RESNA is offering 0.2 RESNA CEUs for this webinar. Members receive a discount. The cost is $56 for members and $80 for non-members.
