Two experienced leaders in disability and assistive technology will join the RESNA Catalyst Project as Co-Directors, starting immediately. 

 

Helen MacNabb has served as Vice President, Strategic Properties for Special Olympics International in Washington, DC where she cultivated new partnerships in support of the organization’s strategic goals.  Among other things, she developed and managed an international youth volunteer program and launched the annual Global Eunice Kennedy Shriver Day that takes place in over 100 countries. She also worked as Vice President, Organizational Development with a focus on youth and families. Helen holds a BA in Government Relations from James Madison University and a JD from the University of Notre Dame. She lives in Oakton, Virginia.

 

Andrew (Andy) Winnegar currently serves as consultant for the Southwest ADA Center.  Prior to that he was the Director of the New Mexico Technology Assistance Program and the Deputy Director for the Program Development of the New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.  As such, he brings many years of experience on assistive technology issues.  He received a BS in Sociology and Economics from the University of North Texas and a MS in Vocational Evaluation from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Andy lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

 

The RESNA Catalyst Project is a sponsored project of RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America. RESNA operates the project under a grant from the Administration for Community Living, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The RESNA Catalyst Project provides technical assistance to the Assistive Technology (AT) Act Grantees to assist them in increasing awareness and advocacy around AT issues and access to and acquisition of  AT devices and services for consumers with disabilities of all ages. The Project works with the 56 Statewide AT Programs, the 57 Protection and Advocacy for AT Programs, and the 39 Alternative Financing Programs. It also works with 19 access to telework financial loan programs.

 

The two will work together as Co-Directors.
