Longtime assistive technology leader and advocate Simon Margolis died on July 25, 2016. Simon served as RESNA's President from 2002 to 2004. He was a founder of NCART, the National Coalition for Advanced Rehab Technology, where he served on the board of directors, and a founder of NRRTS, where he also served on the board of directors and as its President. He also served as NRRTS executive director for 7 years until his retirement in August 2013. As NCART's executive director Don Clayback stated, "In all these positions, Simon's passion and dedication had a common goal: protecting and improving access to high quality individually configured equipment that people with disabilities rely on and ensuring it was provided by qualified professionals and organizations." He was a tireless advocate for consumers and for the AT profession.
RESNA offers it deepest condolences to Simon's wife Marcia, his daughter and son-in-law Erica and Tyler Negrini. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation made in Simon's name to either Bet Shalom Synagogue, 13613 Orchard Road, Hopkins, MN 55305 or to an animal humane society of your choice.
