RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America, is the premier professional organization dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of people with disabilities through increasing access to technology solutions. RESNA’s Assistive Technology Standards are approved for publication as American National Standards by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and activities are related to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) wheelchair seating work.
Kara Kopplin, Director of Regulatory Science for Permobil Seating & Positioning, has been elected the Chair of the RESNA Standards Committee for Wheelchairs and Related Seating. The WRS Committee is currently hard at work improving several existing standards, and initiating new working groups, so it is an exciting time to be a part of these efforts. Meetings are open to anyone; voting on documents requires membership. Each standards committee is required to maintain a balance in membership. The committee is currently seeking participants from the under-represented interest categories of Consumer, advocate, caregiver, policy expert, payer, or educator. To become a member, please visit /AT-Standards/Wheelchair-and-Related-Seating-WRS to download the membership form from the WRS Standards Committee page. Please add your voice to these efforts by joining the committee.
