Creating Assistive Technology Solutions in Minutes: A Make and Take Workshop will involve participants in the fabrication of 10 assistive technology solutions using new fabrication tools and materials including: Instamorph, Loc-Line, Coroplast, Conductive foam and tape, Veltex, Coroclaw, Corner Guard, Remo, UGLu, DFL, CPVC, and more. Taught by Dr. Therese Willkomm, the "MacGyver of AT," this hands-on workshop will give participants, regardless of their familiarity with these tools, confidence in their ability to solve issues faced by many with disabilities. There is an additional $50 kit fee for this course. 

 

 

Challenges and Opportunities of Delivering Early Powered Mobility will review the impact of mobility on child development, examine practical issues in securing funding and customization of devices, and share success stories. The international panel features presenters from Designability, a British assistive technology engineering and design charity; the Centre for Cerebral Palsy, Australia; Cleveland Children's Clinic Hospital for Rehabiliation; and St. Joseph's Childrens Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

 

 

Improving Outcomes with Custom Contoured Seating: Theory and Practice will examine the 7 critical determinants of a successful outcome with custom contoured seating. During the course, participants will complete a mat exam, seating simulation and shape capture of an individual with complex seating needs, using objective measurements of seated posture to assess outcomes. The instructor is Kelly Waugh, PT, ATP.
