Hi everyone,
Can you believe we’re already two months into 2025? RESNA has hit the ground running this year, with the ATIA conference in Orlando marking the first stop on our RESNA on the Road series for 2025. RESNA’s influence was threaded throughout the conference with over 70 (!) presenters having the ATP credential! In addition, Executive Director Andrea VanHook presented on RESNA’s Code of Ethics & Standards of Practice. Looking ahead, we are very excited for the return of our annual conference, which will be held in conjunction with RehabWeek 2025 on May 12-16, 2025, in Chicago, IL. I can’t wait to see you all there!
Beyond the conference, we will be delivering other educational opportunities, including monthly webinars starting after the conference and the return of Tech Tuesdays—all recorded and available on RESNA Learn for easy, on-demand CEU access. Plus, stay tuned for special virtual events featuring live technology demonstrations, position paper presentations, and our Colin McLaurin Distinguished Memorial Lecture, happening in person and online this fall.
If you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to get more involved with RESNA! Join a Standards Committee, Special Interest Group (SIGs), or Community of Practice (CoPs), or explore volunteer opportunities to stay connected and at the forefront of assistive technology.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you are interested in any of these areas but aren’t sure where to begin or how you might fit. There are lots of opportunities for folks to contribute within the arenas of education, clinical practice, research, and advocacy related to the RE & AT world.
In addition, our call for board nominations for 2025 is open until March 12. This year there are three open positions on the Board of Directors. If you are interested, please reach out to me or one of my fellow Board members for guidance and encouragement about the process. It’s a great way to influence the governance and direction of our association.
Lastly, please consider nominating someone, or yourself, for a 2025 RESNA award. RESNA Awards honor members and organizations for their contributions to the RESNA organization and to the field of assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering. The call for nominations is open until March 19. Again, feel free to reach out to me or a member of the Board if you would like some encouragement and assistance with the nomination process.
There are lots of great initiatives to look forward to in the months ahead! As always, thank you for your time and support of RESNA!
Thank you,
Jim Lenker, PhD, OT/L, FAOTA, RESNA Fellow
RESNA President
