The RESNA Ad-Hoc Accreditation Committee is investigating the implications of designing, developing, and implementing an accreditation process of assistive technology training programs. To that end, we are seeking additional volunteers as we develop accreditation materials. We currently represent and are seeking a diverse group of professionals: educators, occupational therapists, physical therapists, prosthetists and orthotists, engineers and technologists, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and suppliers and manufacturers.
On October 24th, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs' (CAAHEP) board of directors approved RESNA's assistive technology accreditation proposal. The RESNA ad-hoc committee will work with CAAHEP over the next year to develop all accreditation procedures and materials, with official announcements including "how tos" being announced at the 2015 RESNA conference.
It is important that the ad-hoc committee is representative of the RESNA membership, to ensure materials are reflective of our multidisciplinary field.
