An update to RESNA’s Ultralight Wheelchair Position Paper is now available to the community on the RESNA website, www.resna.org.

The position paper, RESNA Position on the Application of Ultralight Manual Wheelchairs, is an update of the original paper, published in 2012. The update includes an extensive scoping review of literature published since 2012, along with current clinical guidance and applications.

RESNA position papers document typical clinical applications of assistive technologies and provide supporting evidence from published peer-reviewed scientific research literature. Position papers are prepared according to rigorous guidelines and an approval process that includes input and feedback from stakeholder subject matter experts, a public comment period, and review and approval by RESNA’s Board of Directors. RESNA publishes position papers as a service to the community, and are available in the RESNA store free of charge. In this way, RESNA promotes the adoption and safe, evidence-based implementation of assistive technologies to improve the health, well-being and independence of people with disabilities.
