Access to AT can have far-reaching implications. Rehabilitation professionals may recommend and facilitate access yet delays may ensue. Delays and denials of AT are particularly impactful for children. In this ethics panel, the authors will focus on barriers and facilitators of access to AT in pediatric rehabilitation. The issues are complex. There are economic, social, psychological and policy reasons for suboptimal use of AT post rehabilitation. The multidisciplinary panel with expertise in OT, PT and SLP and Psychology and Clinic Ethics will draw upon various methods from a retrospective chart review, qualitative research interviews, clinical expertise, to define the issues, consider the complexities and invite the audience to think together about potential facilitators of access.
