Abstract: This workshop presents the design, user testing and re-design of an AI-driven telerehabilitation system that combines traditional therapeutic exercises with engaging exergames to improve upper extremity function in stroke survivors. Designed for community-based and home settings, our system offers a personalized, affordable approach to rehabilitation, with protocols adapted for users of varying abilities, including those with cognitive impairments. Through feasibility study, the system has demonstrated its potential as an accessible tool for underserved populations, with usability scores showing positive feedback on ease of use. Participants will gain practical knowledge of the design process and usability insights from real-world applications. This workshop provides a unique opportunity for rehabilitation professionals to explore how generative AI enhances the system’s adaptability and scalability, offering transformative solutions for underserved communities.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to identify the advantages afforded by GenAI in the delivery of personalized, adaptive rehabilitation. Participants will be able to identify key setup requirements, support needs, and user engagement strategies necessary for successful telerehabilitation, particularly for underserved populations.
