Investigators across stakeholder groups have been investigating new and alternative strategies for wheelchair coverage policies as part of a NIDILRR funded Disability and Rehabilitation Research Project (DRRP) Program. This session will share updates to date across core interrelated projects and seek commentary from session participants. The first project will share the findings of a comprehensive scoping review of the literature, results of a stakeholder survey on service delivery, and summary of discussions with policy experts. The second project will discuss progress on the development of standardized methods for wheelchair assessment. The third project will share preliminary analytics of datasets used to inform the development of new policy. Lastly, the fourth project will detail examples of potential CRT model attributes.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify three essential steps from the RESNA Wheelchair Service Provision Guide.
- List three standardized assessment tools that can be used to describe a person’s need for a wheelchair.
- Identify three data analytics that have been completed to inform wheelchair policy
- List three CRT model attributes that could be considered for a new wheelchair policy
