Mission Statement
The mission of this Special Interest Group (SIG) is to globally advance the practice of 24 hour positioning in all contexts including low resource settings, through collaboration, education, advocacy, and research. People at risk of body shape distortion rely on application of purposefully placed postural supports in lying, sitting and standing, to promote function, improve sleep quality and reduce pain and secondary complications. Our goal is to support the knowledge base and creation of locally available solutions for persons with mobility limitations.
Foundation
In August 2020 the RESNA Board of Directors approved a new 24-7 Posture Care Management Special Interest Group. The 24-7 Posture Care Management Special Interest Group is a forum for AT Practitioners who are interested in networking, providing services, and conducting research relative to 24-7 PCM. After incubating for a year as the 24-7 PCM Committee within the RESNA International SIG, we are happy to be a freestanding, dedicated SIG. We are grateful for our international roots, and for the support we have received from colleagues around the world, and look forward to further development of North American resources and strength in 24-7 PCM. Because of our origin within the International SIG, RESNA graciously agreed to allow participation of international members in the 24-7 PCM SIG without paying RESNA membership dues for the first year. International members are always welcome to join RESNA and enjoy full benefits and access to all resources.
